An internationally touring exhibition exploring the story of the Titanic will make its New Zealand debut in Auckland next month.
Titanic: The Human Story opens at the Smith & Caughey’s Building on August 28, featuring more than 200 original artefacts and personal objects from passengers and crew, alongside immersive recreations of parts of the ship.
Created by Musealia in partnership with Fever and supported by Auckland Live, Auckland Museum, the New Zealand Maritime Museum and Auckland Council Events, the exhibition has attracted more than three million visitors worldwide.
Auckland Live director Daniel Clarke says the exhibition expands the range of major cultural experiences available in the city centre.
“We’re proud to help bring this internationally acclaimed exhibition to Tāmaki Makaurau, continuing to expand the range of major cultural experiences available in the heart of our city.”
Deputy Mayor Desley Simpson says exhibitions of this scale help draw people into the city centre while showcasing heritage buildings.
Tickets go on sale on August 5, with prices from NZ$40 for adults. The exhibition opens on August 28 and runs from the Smith & Caughey’s Building in Auckland’s CBD.
