Auckland is preparing to host the inaugural MICHELIN Guide Restaurant Ceremony New Zealand 2026, with the awards to be held at the New Zealand International Convention Centre on June 30.
The ceremony will mark the first MICHELIN Guide awards for New Zealand and Oceania, bringing chefs, restaurateurs, hospitality leaders and media to the city.
Tātaki Auckland Unlimited chief executive Nick Hill says hosting the event reflects Auckland’s growing reputation as a culinary destination.
“We are proud to host the inaugural MICHELIN Guide Awards Ceremony and to welcome industry leaders from around New Zealand and the world to Auckland for this important occasion,” Nick says.
He says food plays an important role in Auckland’s visitor offering and identity, with the city’s dining scene shaped by Māori, Pacific, Asian and European influences.
Nick says initiatives such as Iconic Auckland Eats also help showcase Auckland’s food culture and encourage visitors to explore the city’s hospitality offering.
The ceremony will be held at the NZICC, which officially opened earlier this year and is hosting a series of major national and international events.
