The head of New Zealand Airports Association will step down later this year, marking a leadership change for an organisation representing key infrastructure across the country’s tourism network.
NZ Airports chief executive Billie Moore has confirmed she will leave the role on July 31, 2026, after three and a half years leading the association.
Sector role in connectivity
Billie says the decision was not an easy one, highlighting the importance of airports to communities and the wider economy.
“The airports in this network are infrastructure for connection, for economic life, and for the communities that depend on them.”
Airports play a central role in New Zealand’s tourism system, acting as key gateways for both international visitors and domestic travellers moving between regions.
Transition period underway
Billie says her focus over the coming months will be on ensuring a smooth transition for the organisation and its members.
“My foot will remain firmly on the pedal for the next three months – so expect no change in tempo any time soon.”
She is expected to remain active across industry engagements, including upcoming events such as the Regional Airport Summit in July.
Industry significance
The New Zealand Airports Association represents airports across the country, supporting infrastructure, connectivity and regional development.
Leadership changes within the sector come at a time when airports continue to play a critical role in supporting tourism flows, regional access and economic activity.
