ChristchurchNZ chief executive Ali Adams will step down in October after five years leading the city’s economic development and destination agency.
Ali is returning to the United Kingdom to take up the role of Pro-Vice-Chancellor Global and Regional Engagement at the University of Nottingham.
She says the new position aligned with both her professional experience and personal circumstances.
“Leaving Christchurch is not an easy decision. It has been a privilege to work alongside so many talented people who are deeply committed to the future of this city and region.”
Board chair Lauren Quaintance says Ali has led the organisation through a significant period of growth and change.
“Ali has been an exceptional leader, embedding a strong culture and values across the ChristchurchNZ team, which has resulted in strong outcomes for the city against targets.”
Ali says Christchurch has built strong momentum in recent years through increased investment, a growing international profile and a diversifying economy.
She will remain with ChristchurchNZ until October 23 while recruitment for a new chief executive gets under way.
