More than 300 tourism leaders from across Aotearoa New Zealand are gathering today at Tākina Wellington Convention and Exhibition Centre for Tourism Summit Aotearoa 2025, hosted by Tourism Industry Aotearoa.
Centred on the theme “New Zealand Tourism 2030: Being Dynamic in a Global Marketplace,” the Summit offers a full day of insights and discussion on how the industry can adapt and thrive in a fast-changing world.
TIA chief executive Rebecca Ingram says the Summit is an important opportunity for collaboration and forward thinking across the sector.
“The Summit is an important annual opportunity for the industry to come together, to share knowledge and consider how New Zealand tourism continues to adapt and respond to unprecedented external pressures,” Rebecca says.
This year’s programme features a strong line-up of speakers and thought leaders from business, geopolitics, marketing, and technology. Sessions explore topics including global economic conditions and their travel impacts, the influence of TikTok on travel decision-making, cyber-risk management, and the role of artificial intelligence in the future of tourism.
The industry arrives at the Summit with renewed confidence. TIA’s latest Workforce Survey shows that 86 per cent of tourism organisations feel confident about the year ahead — an 11-point increase from 2024.
“It is incredibly positive that optimism is high across the tourism industry as we head into the summer season, especially given how tough it is out there for businesses at the moment,” Rebecca says.
Tourism Summit Aotearoa will conclude this evening with the New Zealand Tourism Awards, celebrating the people, places, and businesses leading the way in tourism excellence and innovation.
