More than 200 delegates from New Zealand’s inbound tourism sector will gather in Christchurch this week for the Tourism Export Council of New Zealand (TECNZ) Annual Conference and Tourism Export Awards.
Held at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre on August 5–6, the conference will bring together inbound tour operators, destination management companies and tourism suppliers under the theme Tourism Unlocked, New Opportunities.
The event concludes with the Tourism Export Awards gala dinner at One New Zealand Stadium.
One of the conference highlights will be the announcement of a new three-year strategic partnership between TECNZ and Wētā Workshop, with co-founder Sir Richard Taylor speaking on creative tourism.
TECNZ chief executive Lynda Keene says the conference comes at an important time for the industry.
“This is the largest annual gathering of New Zealand’s tourism export businesses, and the energy this year is fantastic. Our members are focused on unlocking new opportunities as international visitor markets continue to rebuild.”
The programme also features speakers including Infometrics chief executive Brad Olsen, Tourism Holdings chief executive Grant Webster and Christchurch Airport general manager aeronautical development Gordon Bevan, alongside sessions on AI, distribution, succession planning and international market trends.
