Christchurch-founded tourism technology company Tourplan is celebrating 40 years in business, marking four decades of growth from a single client to a global platform supporting inbound tourism operators in 75 countries.
Founded in 1986, Tourplan now provides technology to more than 450 tour operators, destination management companies and inbound travel specialists worldwide, with more than 10,000 users across five regional offices.
Chief executive Craig Gray says the milestone reflects the company’s long-standing focus on partnership and innovation.
“For 40 years, Tourplan has been behind the magic of travel, the systems that quietly power every itinerary, every booking, every seamless moment that a traveller will remember for a lifetime. This anniversary is a celebration of our clients, our global team, and the industry we’ve grown alongside.”
The company’s development has mirrored the evolution of travel technology, from launching one of the industry’s earliest web-based booking systems in the 1990s to today’s cloud-based software platform serving operators across Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Pacific.
Looking ahead, Tourplan plans to further expand its international footprint while continuing to develop its software platform with artificial intelligence capabilities and enhanced distribution tools for clients.
The company now employs more than 130 people globally and remains headquartered in Christchurch.
