Cruise Lines International Association brought its annual CLIA LIVE training programme to Auckland this week, with dozens of travel agents attending two days of cruise industry education and product updates.
The Auckland event formed the seventh stop in CLIA’s annual in-person seminar series across Australasia, bringing together representatives from 28 cruise lines to provide practical training and sales insights for travel advisors.
Around 80 agents attended each day of the Auckland programme across Tuesday and Wednesday.
Cruise line updates and training
The CLIA LIVE events are designed to help travel agents better understand the range of cruise products available across the market, including the positioning and character of individual cruise brands.
The training aims to give agents the knowledge needed to better match travellers with suitable cruise experiences.
CLIA director of membership and events Australasia Marita Nosic says the programme continues to attract strong demand.
“CLIA LIVE always sells out quickly, it’s a rare opportunity to learn from multiple cruise lines back-to-back,” Marita says.
“This year has brought more cruise lines into the program, including several brands that are taking part for the first time, which means agents gain an even broader view of the opportunities in cruising.”
Australasia-wide programme
The Auckland sessions follow earlier events in Christchurch, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney, with the programme set to conclude next week on the Gold Coast.
CLIA says around 800 member travel agents are expected to take part in this year’s seminar series, which has become one of the association’s most popular annual training initiatives.
