A new free ticketing model has been introduced for this year’s BNZ Auckland Lantern Festival which starts today, celebrating the Chinese New Year and the Year of the Snake at South Auckland’s Manukau Sports Bowl.
The maximum 60,000 tickets have already been downloaded for entry on Saturday, Day 3 of the festival, however tickets remain for Thursday, Friday and Sunday, the last day of the Chinese New Year celebration.
By downloading a ticket before arriving, attendees can take advantage of free public transport available two hours before, during, and for one hour after the festival’s show times each day.
Opening hours of the festival this week:
Thursday: 3pm – 10pm
Friday: 3pm – 10pm
Saturday: 1pm – 10pm
Sunday: 1pm – 10pm

While Saturday is at capacity, anyone arriving without a ticket will still be welcomed, although there may be delays. QR codes will be displayed at venue entrances, allowing visitors to scan for entry.
