Waiheke Island-based tourism operator, Terra & Tide, has been named a finalist in the 2024 New Zealand Tourism Awards, an accomplishment which its founder and director, Gabrielle Young, describes as an exciting and rewarding acknowledgement of the company’s status as one of the leading regenerative tourism businesses in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Terra & Tide, which provides touring, walking, and sailing adventures on Waiheke Island and the Hauraki Gulf, is among four finalists in the running for the Tourism Excellence Award – Micro Business category. According to Gabrielle, the achievement reflects the effort she and her team have invested over the past three years in pursuit of their vision to become an exemplar of regenerative tourism.
“As well as enhancing our eco-credentials by introducing a fleet of electric Mercedes vans and supporting a variety of local environmental initiatives, we have deepened our engagement with our community and fine-tuned our customer experience.”
Gabrielle reveals that Terra & Tide’s success feels even sweeter because 2024 was the first time it had even entered the Tourism Industry Aotearoa Awards.
“This business is completely about our passion for doing the right thing while promoting the unique experiences Waiheke has to offer. It’s an incredible accolade to be recognised alongside so many iconic New Zealand tourism businesses, and I’d like to congratulate our fellow finalists.
“I feel very proud to receive this recognition of the Terra & Tide team’s hard mahi and dedication, and I’m incredibly grateful to them as well as the supportive partners and loyal customers who have been part of the Terra & Tide journey so far.”
