Tourism New Zealand’s winter campaign, launched in May 2022, has become the most successful domestic campaign to date.
“The campaign drove more than 400,000 visits to: www.newzealand.com and directed more than 162,000 referrals to tourism operators across the country which supported tourism industry recovery,” says general manager New Zealand and business events, Bjoern Spreitzer.
The campaign encourages Kiwis to take advantage of their own backyard over the cooler months.
“Our research shows that winter is Kiwis’ second favourite travel season, the task of this campaign was to tap into this sentiment and frame travel as winter’s must do activity. It’s great to see that New Zealanders are out and about and continuing to discover their back yard during the colder months,” he says.
While domestic travel has been strong, with borders now fully open this is expected to naturally decrease. To continue to support tourism industry recovery Tourism New Zealand is also working hard to encourage high-quality international visitation from key markets.
