Tranzit Coachlines has launched a new national charter campaign designed to encourage New Zealanders to rediscover the joy of travelling together by bus and coach.
The campaign uses nostalgia to remind people that the journey can be just as memorable as the destination and promotes charter travel for events, weddings, schools, sports groups, community organisations and holiday excursions. It has a focus on safe, reliable and sustainable group transport options that connect people to scenic destinations, local experiences and each other.
Jenna Snelgrove, general manager for Tranzit Group’s Coachlines, InterCity and Tourism division, says the campaign is about reigniting pride in bus and coach travel, while reinforcing Tranzit’s long-standing role in keeping communities connected.
“For 100 years, Tranzit has helped people travel across Aotearoa, New Zealand — from school trips and sports fixtures to weddings, tours, events and public transport services,” she says. “We have always looked ahead, leading the way with safe, innovative and sustainable transport solutions, but this campaign gave us a chance to draw inspiration from the past.”
The campaign artwork has been created in collaboration with Wairarapa-based graphic designer Geoff Francis, highlighting Tranzit’s commitment to working with local businesses and supporting creative talent in the community where the company began in 1925.
Geoff’s designs draw on vintage printmaking influences, including screen prints and lino-cut styles, to create a collection that feels familiar, warm and distinctly New Zealand. The artwork will be used across the charter campaign and may also be displayed within Tranzit spaces, celebrating the company’s history while adding colour and character to its workplaces.
“It has been a privilege to work with Tranzit on a campaign that celebrates both heritage and movement,” says Geoff. “The brief was to capture the feeling of travel — the landscapes, the shared experience and the optimism of setting off somewhere together. Inspired by the golden era of New Zealand travel advertising, including the much-loved New Zealand Railways travel posters of the 1930s to 1950s, these art works help bring that story to life.”
Tranzit is an award winning, fourth generation New Zealand family-owned bus and coach company that has been operating for 100 years. Today it operates a fleet of over 3000 vehicles, has 2500 team members and provides charter, school, tourism, events and public transport services across the country. It continues to invest in modern, sustainable transport solutions including a growing fleet of electric buses delivering public transport services for its key regional council clients, while remaining grounded in the family values and community connections that have shaped its first century.
This new charter campaign encourages Kiwis to think of bus and coach travel not simply as transport, but as part of the experience — a way to travel together, reduce the stress of driving, support local destinations and enjoy the scenery along the way.
