Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced a Trans-Tasman bubble will be established.
Quarantine-free travel will restart between Australia and New Zealand on April 19.
However, this bubble has rules and a 'traveller beware' warning.
She says travellers should be aware and prepared for stalls in travel plans should an outbreak occur.
If a case was to occur from a border worker, for example, travel could continue. If a case not linked to border work was to pop up, a 'travel pause' might be effected.
Five hundred MIQ isolation hotel spots will be held, as a contingency plan.
"This is an exciting day," Ardern says.
