Owen River Lodge Takes Out National Tourism Award

Boutique fly fishing lodge, Owen River Lodge, has received top honours at the 2019 New Zealand Tourism Awards, taking out the Visitor Experience category.

The Angus & Associates Visitor Experience Award recognises a tourism business that is driving value through meeting and exceeding the expectations of visitors.

Judges were looking for leadership in visitor experience, operational excellence, and demonstrable results.

“Owen River Lodge is delivering a world class visitor experience, in line with goals 3 and 4 of the New Zealand Tourism Sustainability Commitment. The judges noted that Owen River Lodge has as its primary focus the experience of its guests and it enjoys exceptionally high levels of visitor satisfaction, referrals and repeat business as a consequence”.

"As a leading provider of research and strategy services for New Zealand’s tourism industry – and as an advocate for a customer-centred approach to business – Angus & Associates is proud to support the Visitor Experience Award," says managing director Cristine Angus.

“We’d like to applaud the other finalists also – Auckland War Memorial Museum, GO Rentals, and Mad Campers – these organisations have all invested in systems and processes that ensure they deliver outstanding visitor experiences on a consistent basis.”

Angus & Associates’ services include a specialised customer insight solution for tourism businesses (the Tourism CXI). The Tourism CXI allows tourism businesses to get valuable insights on their customers so they can better meet their needs, and drive growth through positive word of mouth.
