The founder of Mt Cook Lakeside Retreat has published a book documenting the creation and evolution of the luxury Mackenzie Country property.
Written by owner Kaye Paardekooper, the illustrated publication traces the development of the retreat from its original vision through to its design, construction and growth into an internationally recognised luxury destination.
Kaye says the book is intended to preserve the story behind the property for future generations.
“This book is a reflection on a life’s work. It shares not only how Mt Cook Lakeside Retreat came to be, but why it was created.”
The publication also highlights the craftsmanship, landscaping, architecture and hospitality that have shaped the retreat over the years, while acknowledging the people involved in its development.
The book will be launched at a public storytelling event at the retreat on Wednesday, August 19.
