Interislander has unveiled its entry for this year’s Wellington On a Plate festival, launching a travelling pop-up burger that will appear at locations across the capital and onboard Cook Strait sailings throughout August.
Called Ferry Tale, the burger will be available from August 3–23 at Wellington Railway Station, selected waterfront locations and on Interislander ferries. It features a 180g Wairarapa lamb patty and is priced at $15, or $18 with fries.
General manager of passenger Clare Morgan says the aim was to create a quality festival burger that was accessible to a wide audience.
“We wanted to create something substantial, packed with quality ingredients and priced so that as many people as possible could enjoy it.”
Clare says offering the burger at pop-up sites as well as onboard sailings allows both Wellington residents and ferry passengers to take part in the annual food festival.
