The Tourism Export Council of New Zealand has unveiled the programme for its 2026 annual conference, bringing together economists, tourism leaders and international travel trade specialists to examine the future of New Zealand’s visitor economy.
The two-day conference, Tourism Unlocked, New Opportunities, will be held at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre on August 5–6 and will focus on global distribution, innovation and sustainable growth.
Among the keynote speakers are Infometrics chief executive Brad Olsen, Tourism Holdings chief executive Grant Webster, Wētā Workshop co-founder Sir Richard Taylor and world record-holding freediver Ant Williams. International perspectives will also be provided by US-based inbound specialist Frank Krieger and Sydney travel representation executive Jacqui Walshe.
TECNZ chief executive Lynda Keene says the programme reflects the industry’s shift from recovery to growth.
“We’re delighted with the calibre of speakers and panellists this year. The focus is on global trends, innovation and growth. New Zealand is now in a position to lift its head out of recovery and start planning proactively as we pursue managed growth.”
The conference programme also includes sessions on artificial intelligence, succession planning, workforce development, offshore distribution and commercial contracting, alongside the Tourism Export Awards New Zealand gala dinner.
