BizFest 2026 will return to Porirua on July 21, with organisers positioning the event as a platform to strengthen and celebrate the city’s business community.
The event, held at Te Rauparaha Arena, is run jointly by Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira and Porirua City Council.
Focus on collaboration
This year’s theme, Build Your Village, centres on collaboration and community-led business growth, reflecting Porirua’s approach to working collectively.
Te Rūnanga o Toa Rangatira chief executive Helmut Modlik says the event is designed to recognise and build on the city’s strengths.
“This is not just a day to hear people speak.
“This is about connecting and feeling proud of where you are; being excited to continue building our village and benefit from that.”
Speaker line-up confirmed
The event will be hosted by Eteroa Lafaele, with keynote speakers including Wellington Phoenix women’s head coach Bev Priestman, rugby player Ruby Tui and businessman Sir Ian Taylor.
The programme also includes workshops, networking sessions and an exhibitor marketplace focused on small business support.
Economic development angle
Porirua mayor Anita Baker says the event aims to drive long-term economic outcomes.
“Porirua is a place to do business, our city is humming and, importantly, somewhere we look out for one another.”
“What we want is lasting economic success — the village continues to work and flourish long after the event ends.”
BizFest 2026 runs from 9am to 4pm, with tickets available online.
