The New Zealand Cruise Association has appointed Mel Collier to a newly created role focused on membership, marketing and events, as the sector continues its recovery.
Mel will join the association on March 23, 2026, with the position reflecting a growing membership base and an expanded work programme across industry collaboration, events and advocacy.
NZCA chief executive Jacqui Lloyd says the role will support the organisation’s work representing the cruise sector.
“Mel will play an important role supporting our members while also assisting with the wider advocacy work needed to ensure cruise tourism continues to contribute strongly to New Zealand’s regions,” Jacqui says.
Supporting sector recovery
The appointment comes as the cruise industry continues rebuilding following several challenging years, with a focus on strengthening coordination across operators, ports and regional stakeholders.
NZCA chair Tansy Tompkins says the new role will support this work.
“We’re thrilled to have Mel join NZCA to support Jacqui and the wider membership at an important time for the cruise sector,” Tansy says.
“As the industry works to return to previous levels, strong collaboration and advocacy across the sector will be more important than ever.”
Industry experience
Mel brings experience across New Zealand’s tourism sector, including roles with Tourism New Zealand, ChristchurchNZ, Christchurch Airport, Air New Zealand and Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre.
Most recently, she worked at Chateau on the Park – a DoubleTree by Hilton.
