IHG Hotels & Resorts, Pro-invest Group and Connect Hospitality have opened voco Queenstown, completing the conversion of the former Holiday Inn Express & Suites Queenstown into IHG’s premium upscale voco brand.
The repositioning, first announced earlier this year, follows a refurbishment of the hotel’s 227 guestrooms and suites, along with redesigned public spaces and a new food and beverage offering.
Pro-invest Group founder and chairman Ronald Stephen Barrott says the conversion aligns the hotel with growing demand for premium accommodation in Queenstown.
“The opening of voco Queenstown marks the next chapter for an asset and destination we have long believed in.”
IHG Hotels & Resorts Australasia & Pacific managing director Matt Tripolone says the hotel becomes New Zealand’s second voco property following the brand’s debut in Auckland.
“Queenstown is one of New Zealand’s most dynamic hotel markets, and voco is a brand that is well suited to the destination.”
The refurbishment includes redesigned guestrooms, a new restaurant and bar, upgraded guest amenities and the introduction of voco’s Resident Host service model.
Located on the corner of Stanley and Sydney streets, the hotel is within walking distance of Queenstown’s lakefront and key visitor attractions. It joins a growing Australasian portfolio of voco hotels as the brand surpasses 100 properties worldwide.
