Pro-invest Group has reached a sustainability milestone, with its three New Zealand fund hotels becoming the first properties in the country to receive Green Key certification.
The certified hotels are voco Auckland City Centre, Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre, and Holiday Inn Express & Suites Queenstown. The properties are operated by EVT Connect Hospitality.
The New Zealand hotels join Pro-invest Group’s 12 Australian fund hotels in achieving Green Key certification, completing the Group’s sustainability target under its One Earth, Countless Experiences strategy.
Launched in 2022, the strategy set a goal for all 15 Pro-invest Group fund hotels across Australia and New Zealand to achieve independent third-party sustainability certification by the end of 2025.
Pro-invest Group senior ESG and communications manager APAC Cindy van Der Wal says independent certification has been central to the Group’s sustainability approach.
“Achieving Green Key certification across all 15 fund hotels in Australia and New Zealand demonstrates what alignment, persistence and partnership can deliver,” Cindy says. “We’re proud of the teams and partners who have supported this milestone and continue to lift sustainability performance across our hotels.”
EVT Connect Hospitality NZ portfolio general manager Jason Sabin says staff across the three New Zealand properties have embraced the Green Key framework.
“This certification recognises the work our teams do every day to implement sustainable practices that benefit both guests and the environment,” Jason says.
Green Key certification is aligned with Global Sustainable Tourism Council standards and is recognised by IHG Hotels & Resorts as an approved certification programme across its global portfolio.
Australian Sustainable Destinations Alliance director and co-founder Scott Mitchell says the organisation was proud to support Pro-invest Group through the certification process.
“Pro-invest Group continues to demonstrate leadership in sustainable hospitality in our region, and achieving Green Key certification for its New Zealand hotels further reinforces that position,” Scott says.
