Air New Zealand is introducing a new space for international travellers this summer, opening The Lookout Lounge at Auckland International Airport ahead of a full redevelopment of its Koru Lounges next year.
Located on Level 2, closer to the departure gates, the new lounge will open daily during peak travel periods — 5.00–10.00am and 3.30–9.15pm — giving customers extra room to relax during the busy holiday season.
The Lookout Lounge will operate alongside the existing Koru Lounge throughout summer and during construction. Customers will be directed to either space depending on availability, with both offering the same signature Kiwi hospitality, food and drinks, and Air New Zealand’s warm service before departure.
Air New Zealand general manager customer Alisha Armstrong says the new lounge delivers a refreshed take on the airline’s familiar pre-departure experience.
“As we head into our busiest travel season, The Lookout Lounge will give our customers more space and comfort before they head overseas. It’s a friendly and relaxed environment influenced by the very best of Aotearoa,” Alisha says.
Inspired by New Zealand’s Great Walks
The design draws on themes of exploration and the natural landscapes of Aotearoa, incorporating warm materials and outlooks intended to give travellers a moment to pause before their flight.
Guests will find a full buffet, a chef station offering made-to-order dishes that vary throughout the day, and a fully serviced bar and barista station featuring New Zealand beer, wine and Coffee Supreme.
Major lounge redevelopment begins in 2026
Air New Zealand’s long-planned redevelopment of its Auckland International Airport lounges will begin next year in two phases.
The current lounge will remain open with reduced capacity while work is carried out on the Koru Premier Lounge for Koru Platinum (currently Airpoints Elite), Koru Black, and Business Premier customers. The new premium lounge is scheduled to open in 2027.
The existing lounge will then be fully refurbished, with a refreshed Koru Lounge expected to open by late 2027.
