New Zealand-resident travellers numbers also rose, with 314,000 arrivals July 2024, up 25,200 from the previous year, driven by increased travel to Australia, Indonesia, and Fiji. This figure is 92% of July 2019’s numbers.
Annual data showed 3.22 million overseas visitors and 2.94 million resident travellers, both marking substantial year-over-year increases. July 2024 saw 1.07 million border crossings, or 90% of pre-pandemic levels, highlighting the resilience and ongoing recovery of New Zealand’s travel industry.
