Artificial intelligence, digital marketing and evolving visitor behaviour will be the focus of this year’s West Coast Tourism Summit, bringing industry leaders to Greymouth later this month.
Hosted by Development West Coast, the summit will be held at Monteith’s Brewery on August 27 under the theme Technology Meets Wilderness.
Development West Coast destination and tourism manager Andrew Aitken says the programme has been designed to help tourism businesses navigate rapid industry change.
“We’ve brought together a great group of speakers who are leading conversations around tourism, technology, marketing and visitor trends.
“They’ll be sharing practical ideas that tourism businesses can apply, while also looking at where the industry is heading.”
Among the keynote speakers is Miles Partnership vice president of AI C.A. Clark, while Tourism New Zealand global manager of digital experience Rush Pathak will discuss how travellers are increasingly using AI to research and plan holidays.
Other sessions will cover AI-powered search, digital marketing, authentic storytelling, virtual tourism, leadership and opportunities to grow the Chinese visitor market.
Tourism Export Council chief executive Lynda Keene will also lead a panel discussion on growing international visitation to the West Coast.
