Invercargill Airport has appointed Southland hospitality operator Jerin Nadar as the new operator of its terminal café, with the refreshed offering set to open on June 28, 2026.
Jerin brings extensive experience to the role, having previously established and operated venues including Main Street Café, Eat on Windsor and, most recently, Salt.
The terminal café will be rebranded as Hangar 106, featuring an updated look and a revised menu designed to appeal to both travellers and the wider Southland community.
A dedicated food trailer will also be introduced within the Jet Lounge, offering hot and cold food, barista coffee and alcoholic beverages for customers using the facility when it is operating in a secure environment.
Invercargill Airport chief executive Stuart Harris says the appointment reflects the airport’s focus on enhancing the visitor experience while creating a welcoming community space.
“While the café will play an important role in serving our passengers, we also see it as a space for the wider community to enjoy,” Stuart says.
“We want people to feel welcome whether they are travelling, meeting friends, bringing children to watch the planes, or simply looking for somewhere different to enjoy great food and coffee.”
Stuart says the airport aims to create a vibrant terminal environment that reflects Southland’s hospitality.
“The airport is one of Southland’s front doors, and we want it to be a place people enjoy spending time in.”
Jerin says the opportunity is about creating a destination that extends beyond airport customers.
“Of course, we’ll be catering for travellers, but we also want this to be a place locals enjoy visiting,” Jerin says.
“Our goal is to create a welcoming space with quality food and great service.”
Hangar 106 and the new Jet Lounge hospitality offering will officially open on June 28, 2026.
