Bookings for the 2026/27 season on the Kepler Track open this morning, Tuesday, May 19, with popular dates expected to fill quickly.
The Department of Conservation Great Walk remains one of the country’s most sought-after multi-day hikes, attracting walkers with its alpine ridgelines, forest trails and Fiordland scenery.
The track combines alpine sections, lakeside forest walks and panoramic views across Fiordland National Park.
DOC is encouraging walkers planning a trip this summer to ensure accounts and bookings are organised ahead of opening day, particularly for peak travel periods.
The Kepler Track is one of New Zealand’s 11 Great Walks and is popular with both domestic and international visitors during the summer hiking season.
