Milford Track bookings open this week as early boat option launches

Bookings for the 2026/27 Milford Track Great Walk season open on Wednesday, May 13, at 9.30am, with demand expected to be high once again for one of New Zealand’s most popular hiking experiences.

Fiordland Outdoors says it is now the only operator offering a morning boat departure to the track, with an 11.30am service joining its existing 2pm option.

The company says the earlier departure gives walkers the chance to get ahead of the main crowds and maximise time on the track during the first day.

Early boat spaces are expected to sell quickly once bookings open.

The Department of Conservation virtual queue system will also return this year to help manage booking demand when reservations go live.
