HeadBox has expanded into New Zealand, launching its AI-powered event platform and management services in Auckland on May 4.
The company says more than 120 Auckland venues are already listed on the platform, supported by its Australian team.
Business events growth backdrop
The launch comes as New Zealand’s business events sector continues to grow, contributing $925 million to the economy in 2025, according to Business Events Industry Aotearoa.
HeadBox says international business event delegates spend more than 50 per cent more than holiday visitors, highlighting the sector’s value.
Platform aims to streamline planning
HeadBox chief executive Australia and New Zealand Ali Lord says the platform addresses inefficiencies in how events are managed.
“Corporate event managers are managing complex programmes across multiple venues and suppliers, often using a mix of spreadsheets and email threads to keep track of everything.
“HeadBox gives them one place to manage the full process, from finding a venue to tracking spend, which saves significant time and reduces the risk of things falling through the cracks.”
The platform allows users to plan and manage in-person, hybrid and virtual events, with real-time visibility of spending across teams and locations.
Venue network established
Auckland venues listed on the platform include the New Zealand International Convention Centre, QT Auckland, The Hotel Britomart, The Churchill at Four Points by Sheraton Auckland and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
AI and virtual tools
HeadBox says features include a virtual venue inspection tool that allows planners to assess spaces online, reducing the need for multiple site visits.
Ali says the technology can speed up venue selection while reducing travel requirements.
“For a travel manager coordinating events across multiple cities, the ability to do a detailed virtual walkthrough of five venues in an afternoon is a genuine time-saver.”
Market timing
Ali says the New Zealand launch reflects changing approaches to event management, particularly as organisations look to manage costs and resources more efficiently.
“Companies are increasingly leaning on HeadBox to fill those gaps, with the platform acting as an extension of their own team.”
HeadBox says New Zealand venues will also be able to use the platform to connect with corporate planners searching for event spaces.
