Finalists have been announced for the 2026 LION Hospitality New Zealand Awards for Excellence, with entrants ranging from established high-profile venues to boutique newcomers.
The annual awards recognise people, businesses and teams across New Zealand’s hospitality and accommodation sectors, with winners to be announced during the HNZ26 Conference in Rotorua on June 23-24.
Industry talent recognised
Hospitality New Zealand chief executive Kristy Phillips says the awards highlight leadership, innovation and customer experience across the sector.
“The awards provide an opportunity to showcase success stories, recognise outstanding leadership, innovation and customer experience, and celebrate the creativity and resilience of New Zealand’s hospitality and accommodation sector.
“We are always blown away by the calibre of entries, and this year is no exception. Not only are these people and places powering our industry, they’re also inspiring the next generation.”
Finalists this year include Botswana Butchery, kingi, 1866 Speakeasy Bar, Little Savanna and Wilderness Lodge Arthurs Pass.
Public voting opens
Hospitality New Zealand says finalists were independently judged on criteria including innovation, sustainability and service.
The public can now vote for their preferred finalist in the People’s Choice Awards.
Conference showcase in Rotorua
The awards will be presented during HNZ26 Conference, where hundreds of industry professionals are expected to gather for two days of networking and sector-focused sessions.
The People’s Awards for Excellence are sponsored by DB Breweries and recognise outstanding individuals, including emerging talent and industry leaders.
The LION Hospitality Business Awards, backed by LION, focus on venues leading in innovation, sustainability, customer experience and overall excellence.
LION chief operating officer and New Zealand country director Craig Baldie says finalists showcase exceptional talent and dedication.
DB Breweries managing director Peter Hart says people remain the driving force behind the industry’s success.
