Christchurch to host industry event
Winners will be announced at the New Zealand Tourism Awards Dinner, held alongside Tourism Summit Aotearoa in Ōtautahi Christchurch on November 4 at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre.
Organisers are advising delegates to book travel and accommodation early, with high demand expected in the city during the event period.
Programme updates for 2026
Several changes have been introduced this year to refine the awards process.
A new online portal will manage entries, allowing participants to register, submit and track applications through a central system.
Guidance has also been introduced on the use of artificial intelligence in submissions. Entrants may use tools such as ChatGPT or Copilot to assist with drafting, but remain responsible for ensuring entries are accurate and reflect their organisation’s work authentically.
The Innovation Award criteria have also been updated to more explicitly recognise the use of digital and AI-enabled solutions, reflecting the growing role of technology in improving productivity and resilience across the sector.
Industry recognition
The awards provide an opportunity for tourism operators to showcase achievements and benchmark performance, with businesses able to enter multiple categories.
The programme continues to play a central role in recognising industry success and supporting ongoing development across New Zealand’s tourism sector.
