Cambridge’s newest boutique accommodation, The Clements, has received a Qualmark Gold Sustainable Tourism Business Award and a 5-Star Boutique rating following its first evaluation.
The hotel opened in August 2025 and the recognition acknowledges its approach to guest experience and sustainable tourism practices.
Qualmark is New Zealand’s official quality assurance mark for tourism businesses. Its sustainability framework is recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, which sets international standards for sustainable travel and tourism.
Capstone Hotel Management managing director Clare Davies says achieving the rating on the first assessment is a strong result for the team.
“This is a tremendous result and one the entire team at The Clements should be proud of,” Clare says.
“Achieving Gold and a five-star rating on a first Qualmark evaluation reflects the work embedded since opening, from operational practices and community connection through to the restoration of the heritage building.”
The Clements occupies Cambridge’s restored 1866 beaux-arts Masonic building following a multi-million-dollar redevelopment.
The 29-room boutique hotel retains original features including stained-glass windows, red brick walls and a wooden staircase, alongside contemporary accommodation amenities.
Food and beverage options include The Gallery Restaurant, The Clements Café & Wine Bar, and ‘1866’, an underground speakeasy-style bar located in the building’s original basement.
The Clements is managed by Capstone Hotel Management and is located on Duke Street in Cambridge, approximately 15 minutes from Hamilton International Airport.
