Air New Zealand will launch a new non-stop seasonal service between Queenstown and Brisbane next winter, opening an additional trans-Tasman connection for leisure travellers and boosting international access to the lower South Island.
The route will operate three times a week from June 22 to October 23, 2026, providing more than 17,000 seats across the season. Services will be flown by the airline’s A320neo aircraft.
General manager short haul and domestic Lucy Hall says the move strengthens two-way tourism.
“Queenstown is a year-round favourite for Australians, and this connection will help bring more visitors during the ski and adventure season,” she says. “It also gives South Islanders another direct option to reach Queensland’s sunshine and lifestyle.”
Queenstown Airport chief executive Shane O’Hare says the reinstated link will be welcomed by both markets.
“There are strong ties between our communities, and this service will be welcomed on both sides of the Tasman. The morning departure time also suits both those visiting friends and family and travellers with onward connections from Brisbane,” he says.
The seasonal route adds further depth to Air New Zealand’s trans-Tasman network as the airline targets increased connectivity with key Australian gateways.
To mark the launch, sale fares are available from $275 one way (seat only). Flights are on sale now at airnewzealand.co.nz and remain subject to regulatory approval.
