Scenic Group has announced the launch of Scenic Ikon, the newest addition to its Discovery Yacht fleet, set to enter service in April 2028.
The 26,500-tonne, 205-metre vessel will carry up to 270 guests in 135 all-verandah suites across five decks. Built for both polar and warm-water operations, Scenic Ikon combines world-class design and all-inclusive ultra-luxury with a focus on exploration and environmental performance.
Purpose-built to operate in diverse environments, the yacht is rated Polar Code 6 with an Ice Class 1A Super hull. It will feature two Airbus H130-T2 helicopters, a custom-designed Triton AVA submersible, Zodiacs and superyacht tenders to support expedition experiences.
Scenic Group founder and chairman Glen Moroney says Scenic Ikon represents the next evolution in the company’s commitment to immersive travel.
“Scenic Ikon has been conceived, engineered and built with our in-house shipbuilding division at MKM Yachts and will be operated entirely by our dedicated Scenic crew. This remarkable vessel is the result of more than three years of passion, innovation and development, and every element of its design has been optimised to deliver unrivalled experiences across diverse destinations and environments — from its primary base in the Mediterranean to the wilds of Antarctica,” says Glen.
Construction milestones include a steel-cutting ceremony in February 2025, attended by Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, and the keel laying in May 2025. The vessel is on schedule for delivery at the end of 2027, ahead of testing and final entry into service.
Maiden season 2028–29
Scenic Ikon will embark on its sold-out inaugural voyage from Venice in April 2028, followed by an extensive first season spanning 110 ports across 21 countries. The itinerary will include the Mediterranean, Aegean and Egypt, the Cape Verde Islands, Dakar, Antarctica, the Falkland Islands and the Chilean Fjords.
Onboard experience
Guests will have access to 15 dining venues, a 1,700-square-metre two-level spa and a range of social and relaxation spaces. Each voyage will feature immersive excursions, exclusive events and entertainment.
A new helicopter programme will offer exclusive landings at golf courses, restaurants and landmarks, as well as scenic flights over remote wilderness areas. The experiences will be available to Chairman’s Club members and guests in Penthouse and Owner’s Suites.
The yacht’s custom-built Triton AVA-9 submersible, Scenic Neptune III, will enable underwater exploration in destinations such as Antarctica.
A limited number of suites are available at pre-release pricing ahead of the full 2028–29 Scenic Ikon Collection launch.
