The Marlborough food and hospitality scene has even more reason to celebrate, with local favourites Toastie Lords taking home two major awards at the 2025 Lion Hospitality New Zealand Awards for Excellence, held last week in Wellington.
Taylor Hamilton was named Hospitality Future Leader of the Year, while co-owner Emma Faith earned the title of Hospitality Industry Leader of the Year, recognising their outstanding contribution and leadership within New Zealand’s vibrant hospitality sector.
Opening its doors in May 2021 in the heart of Picton, Toastie Lords quickly won over locals and travellers alike with its simple yet flavour-packed gourmet toasties. Taylor and Emma have remained true to their vision of delivering quality, comfort food, and their continued dedication to excellence has earned them national acclaim.
The small but mighty eatery is a go-to for both locals and visitors – especially on cruise ship days, when queues often spill onto the street as hungry travellers are eager to try out the famous toasties.
“We’re incredibly proud to see a Marlborough establishment recognised on the national stage,” Destination Marlborough general manager Tracey Green says.
“Taylor and Emma’s passion, hard work and commitment has helped elevate Marlborough and Toastie has become a destination of its own, with many visitors seeking them out specifically”.
The Lion Hospitality Awards, hosted annually by Hospitality New Zealand, celebrate excellence across the industry, from outstanding venues to visionary individuals who are shaping the future of hospitality in Aotearoa.
Visitors to Marlborough can find Toastie Lords in Picton – a 25-minute drive from Blenheim or a short stroll from the ferry terminal.
