New data released my Booking.com shows Auckland is the hot search for this upcoming Auckland Anniversary Weekend.
The results, which use user search data for check-in from Friday, January 24, through to Tuesday, January 28, show that Auckland is the place people want to be for the Anniversary Weekend.
The Bay of Plenty follows after, with Tauranga and Rotorua claiming second and third, respectively.
“Auckland is the place to be this summer and there’s good reason,” says Tātaki Auckland Unlimited director of destination Annie Dundas.
“We’ve had a fantastic lineup of events so far like SailGP last weekend, and there’s even more to come. Moana Auckland, New Zealand’s Ocean Festival is back for the second year, kicking off on Monday with the Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta.
“We’re thrilled to see that Auckland is the number one searched spot for this weekend and we can’t wait to welcome visitors from near and far to experience all this region has to offer.”
Those looking to travel to Auckland this Anniversary Weekend will find no shortage of things to do, from the Auckland International Buskers Festival, Opera in the Park, the Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta, the Moana Auckland festival, and family fun hosted at the New Zealand Maritime Museum.
Tāmaki Makaurau and the ocean go hand in hand at this time of year, so it’s perfect that the second Moana Auckland festival kicks off with the 185th Auckland Anniversary Day Regatta on January 27. Watch the action from Westhaven, Princes Wharf, Queen’s Wharf, Viaduct Harbour, Bastion Point, Maungauika (North Head) and the East Coast Bays.
Presented by Tātaki Auckland Unlimited on behalf of Auckland Council, the Moana Auckland festival brings together on and off-water family friendly events for six weeks, kicking off on Auckland Anniversary weekend.
The Auckland International Buskers Festival returns to Tāmaki Makaurau from January 24-27. The four-day festival features a star lineup from Italy, Japan, Ghana, Australia, and Canada. Performances are on at three sites from midday each day – Karanga Plaza at Wynyard Quarter, Eastern Viaduct and Te Komititanga square at lower Queen Street, from noon-7pm.
