Each year, Wellington’s close-knit hospitality community comes together to host Aotearoa’s largest food festival. Visa Wellington On A Plate. This collaboration not only shows off the city’s culinary talent but also reinforces Wellington’s reputation as a top culinary destination.
With VWOAP returning in August, it is set to again bring with it to deliver a significant economic boost to the region.
“The estimated economic benefit of Visa Wellington On a Plate to the region is upwards of $10M,” says VWOAP head of marketing and communication Gillian Monahan.
“That figure is based on previous visitor spend, ticket sales, estimated spend at participating restaurants on non-ticketed events and Burger Wellington. It doesn’t include long-term benefits to the reputation of Wellington’s hospitality industry and the liveability of the region,” she says.
Visa Wellington On a Plate transforms the Greater Wellington region into a mecca for food enthusiasts. Spanning from the Kāpiti Coast to Porirua, across to the Wairarapa, through the Hutt Valley, and into the Wellington suburbs and CBD, the month-long festival offers a mass of culinary experiences.
