Researchers from Auckland University of Technology, on behalf of the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment, have released a survey for the tourism and hospitality workforce.
The anonymous survey seeks responses from anyone who works in tourism or hospitality.
The questionnaire asks a range of questions about demographic information, employment arrangements, training and development opportunities, and reflections on people’s working environments. The survey questions have been designed with input from tourism and hospitality sector associations and MBIE.
The results of the survey will identify benefits and quantify the challenges of working in the sector. The survey builds on a similar survey conducted in 2022 and will provide updated and comparable data about the tourism and hospitality workforce.
Respondents of the survey will contribute to building a body of knowledge to help understand the working conditions for the people who make up this important sector.
Anyone working in the sector, including employers, is encouraged to complete or share the survey. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes. On completion, respondents can enter a prize draw for one of five $100 grocery vouchers.
The survey can be completed online at the AUT website and will be open until the end of August.
MBIE will publish the findings from the survey on its website in late in 2024.
