Young Kiwis are seeking out exclusive deals and discounts to ensure they can still get their travel fix, despite tough economic times.
In a recent survey commissioned by Flight Centre, more than 75 per cent of Gen Z and Millennials surveyed said cost savings and exclusive deals were the most important factor when planning a holiday.
Other factors that scored high were destination variety and personalisation (73 per cent).
Flight Centre New Zealand general manager Heidi Walker says Gen Z and Millennials often face financial constraints due to factors such as student loans, housing costs, and uncertain job markets.
“We know younger travellers may have limited budgets for discretionary expenses, which prompts them to seek cost-saving options to stretch their travel budget further.
“With that being said, young Kiwis still want authentic and meaningful travel experiences that’s tailored to their interests and preferences”.
To help Kiwis nab some exclusive deals to maintain their travel plans, Flight Centre has this month launched its Big Red Sale which will feature its biggest travel deals and discounts of the year.
“Given financial constraints, we know there’s strong demand for deals and discounts, travellers want to ensure that they are getting the most out of their money and are more likely to choose destinations and accommodation that offer competitive prices and special deals.
“For our Big Red Sale, a lot of our best deals are in cruising and touring, where you can get up to 50 per cent off in some packages, which would have been unheard of when borders first re-opened.”
Heidi says cruising and tours are both attractive options for those that want destination variety as well, as you cover a range of destinations, while paying a one-off price that can cover everything from accommodation, activities and food.
“Right now, there are some great discounts for tours to India and Vietnam. While for cruise seekers there’s up to 50 percent off Europe river cruises, or for the more adventurous- 25 per cent off cruises to Antarctica.
“If tours and cruises aren’t your thing, there are other flight and accommodation deals as well.”
