To celebrate 13 years of flying domestically in New Zealand on June 10, Jetstar is giving away free flights to all its ‘birthday buddies' who share the same birthday.
The giveaway, which goes live at 12:01am on June 10, offers Kiwis over the age of 18 who are lucky enough to share Jetstar’s birthday the opportunity to claim a $100 Jetstar voucher to use on future flights via: www.jetstarbirthday.co.nz
For everyone else, Jetstar’s famous Birthday Sale is now running and includes low fares on 16 domestic and international routes, including Rarotonga and Australia. Fares will be available from $24 on domestic routes (Auckland to Wellington) and from $125 on international routes (Auckland to Gold Coast (Coolangatta)).
Jetstar CEO Gareth Evans says the birthday celebrations come as Jetstar ramps up its New Zealand operations this month in response to relaxed restrictions and increased demand.
“It’s great to see travel demand bounce back as New Zealand and the rest of the world settle into a new kind of normal,” Gareth says.
“Over the coming weeks, we expect to reach around 90 per cent of our pre-pandemic schedule, with the restart of all our trans-Tasman and Cook Island routes as well as increased domestic flying.
“Our low fares are playing an incredibly important role in rebooting tourism after a tough few years, and it’s great to be able to help stimulate even more travel demand through our popular Birthday Sale and giveaway.”
The giveaway comes as recent Jetstar research revealed that the majority of New Zealanders said they would drop everything and head off on a trip immediately if they were given free flights.
Jetstar’s research also revealed around 40 per
cent of New Zealanders are booking flights closer to their travel date than pre-pandemic, while the number of Kiwis that will book flights within a month of travel has more than doubled.
