Mighty Local returns with more than 100 take-out options

More than 100 regional take-out options are now available under the relaunched ‘’Mighty Local” – a regional hub aimed at connecting Waikato residents with local businesses operating during Alert Levels 4, 3 and 2.

Hamilton & Waikato Tourism chief executive Jason Dawson says the relaunched ‘Mighty Local’ website went live last week promoting contactless delivery services from food and beverage producers, online fitness and wellbeing providers all over the Waikato as well as virtual quiz nights and recipes from some of the region’s most beloved chefs.

“We really encourage all Waikato people to buy locally, support local businesses and find things to do at home from family fun through to exercise and well-being activities offered by companies from within our community,” says Jason.

“Now the Waikato is in Alert Level 3, there are more than 100 takeaway listings from local businesses from Morrinsville to Matamata, Hamilton to Huntly, Te Aroha to Te Awamutu and everywhere in between,” he says.

“This proved to be one of the most popular categories last year, and it’s fantastic to see so many residents supporting their local food and hospitality sector in this way.

“Our first national lockdown in March/April 2020 dealt a significant blow to Waikato’s non-essential business, visitor and event sector, so we worked with all our regional partners to create ‘Mighty Local’ as a way to build regional pride and promote the ‘buy, eat, shop & visit local’ messages at the different alert levels. And it felt only important to offer that same service again,” says Jason.
