Kiwi-operated Active Adventures has announced the launch of two marathon tour packages.
In a first-of-its-kind move for the small hiking and adventure tour company, Kiwis can now tick a 10km, half, or full marathon off their list, while tying in an amazing holiday that uncovers the beautiful destinations surrounding their race location.
With both itineraries exploring regions in New Zealand’s stunning South Island and including the cost of your marathon entry, the Kaiteriteri Marathon Adventure trip takes place June 5 – 9 and tours Nelson to Nelson, and the Aoraki Marathon Adventure trip takes place October 1 -7 2021, touring Christchurch to Queenstown.
All accommodation, transport and logistics are taken care of so you can spend your time preparing for your race, and then enjoying yourself afterwards!
This very closely mirrors Active Adventures’ ongoing promise of no hidden costs or stressful logistics, plus round-the-clock customer support is available in the lead up to, and throughout your trip. The suggested Activity Level for the new Marathon Adventure packages is 3-4, which means you like to stay active on your trips, or you are a goal setter and reaching the end and achieving your dreams during a holiday is of utmost importance.
If you had planned to sign up to the Kaiteriteri to Mapua Multisport event – but haven’t yet – now is the time to set that challenge and smash it, while factoring in a holiday too! During the trip you will explore the golden beaches and mountains of the Nelson-Tasman region, you’ll explore Abel Tasman and Nelson Lakes National Parks, as well as some well-earned time spent in the local wineries.
If June is too close for you, the Aoraki Marathon Adventure tour will see you make memories exploring the epic mountains of the Southern Alps – in fact, you’ll run a marathon and visit three national parks all in one week! You will fly into Christchurch and out of Queenstown, and all of the logistics will be taken care of to leave you to run, hike, and bike through the amazing scenery of the South Island’s best spots. Starting in the Mackenzie country, you'll take on the 10km, half or full marathon with Aoraki Mt Cook as your backdrop, before cycling part of the Alps to Ocean trail and hiking Wanakas Rocky mountain with views of Mt Aspiring National park. You’ll then towards Fiordland national Park to hike the famous Kepler track and cruise in Milford Sound. This trip is offered as either a 5 or 7 day option.
