Australian stimulus package revealed

Over the ditch, a recent $1.2 billion stimulus package has been revealed by the Australia federal government.

The package, intended to boost tourism, includes up to 800,000 subsidised flights and is aimed at keeping workers in jobs.

Partly funded by the taxpayer, the package will give regional tourism operators a boost, too.

The package, designed to drive travel demand and support hospitality and accommodation across Australia, and expects to subsidise 46,000 airfares a week to eligible destinations such as the Gold Coast, Cairns, Alice Springs and Launceston.
