Mi-pad Hotel Queenstown is please welcomed two new additions to the management team in November 2020.
Carl Amos has been appointed as general manager, Mi-pad Hotel Queenstown. Carl will be based in the alpine township and brings with him extensive sales and marketing experience.
Joining the hotel from Hospitality New Zealand where he held the position of marketing, communications and events manager, Carl has a wealth of knowledge and has developed many long-lasting relationships in the hospitality industry.
Prior to this role, Carl was based in Wellington at Tourism Industry Aotearoa leading the Partnerships area, the commercial component for the delivery of TIA’s annual key tourism events. Prior to returning to New Zealand, Carl was based in Fiji and Samoa with director of sales and marketing roles at Six Senses Fiji, marketing services manager at South Sea Cruises Fiji and cluster director of sales and marketing with Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Samoa.
Beginning his tourism career with the national carrier, Air New Zealand, Carl says that traveling helps him relax, revitalize and at the same time given him to chance to explore many destinations with his favourite destinations being Croatia and Malaysia.

In addition, Toby Welford has been appointed as operations manager, Mi-pad Hotel Queenstown. Toby will be based on-property and brings a strong background with hotel operational roles both in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
Toby returned to New Zealand from the United Kingdom in 2020, joining Mi-pad Queenstown in September. A Te Anau local, and graduate of Queenstown Resort College, Toby has worked across many of the hotel front-of-house disciplines and was Assistant Manager at Novotel Queenstown Lakeside in Queenstown before departing for the United Kingdom.
While in the United Kingdom, Toby gained additional front office experience with independent properties such as Home House in London and Kilworth House Hotel in Leicestershire before taking a break from the hospitality industry to undertake personal travel around the United Kingdom and Europe. Toby returned to New Zealand in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic swept across Europe.
“Bringing my operational knowledge from a variety of properties in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, I see Mi-pad Queenstown perfectly placed as a blueprint for the future of accommodation hospitality in New Zealand," says Toby, whose role as operations manager has him based onsite at the property.
The appointments are effective immediately.
