The Heritage Dunedin Leisure Lodge officially joined the Heritage Hotel Group on 1 May 2019.
For Graham Yan, CEO of Heritage Hotels, this was a very exciting and strategic move to continue the growing presence Heritage Hotels has in the South.
“We are delighted to welcome this respected and well-established hotel to our group.
Dunedin is a city we have wanted to be represented in strategically for some time, but we were just waiting for the right property and now we have it,” says Graham
Yan, Chief Executive Officer of Heritage Hotel Management Ltd. “There are also many synergies in the corporate, leisure and meetings markets we operate in that will align well with Heritage Dunedin Leisure Lodge’s target markets.”
Heritage Dunedin Leisure Lodge is in Duke Street, close to the CBD and in walking distance to the University of Otago, the Forsyth Barr Stadium and Botanic Gardens.
Set in two acres of park-like grounds, the hotel has 76 hotel rooms, the popular McGavins Restaurant and Bar and two versatile conference facilities on site – the McGavin Room and the historic Oast House.
The hotel is Qualmark four-star-rated and also offers free car parking, Sky TV and Wi- Fi.
The property which opened in 1978 was designed by award-winning southern architects, Warren and Mahoney, and is on the former site of the McGavin Brewery which brewed its last beer in 1958.
The brewery was re-located to the Speights Brewery in 1971, however to honour the rich history of the site, the stone Oast House (a former malting kiln) was redeveloped as a popular conference venue suitable for corporate meetings and weddings.
“We are very excited to become part of such a well-respected hotel group.
We wanted to align with a group that shares the same values and high standards our team already strive for every day.
The Heritage Experience (T.H.E) value-set marries well with our ongoing commitment to customer care,” says Leigh Stock, General
Manager of Heritage Dunedin Leisure Lodge. “We also appreciate Heritage Hotels are unique to New Zealand and are invested in the South. We all share the same passion for this amazing region and look forward to promoting it together.”
