Long distance transport provider InterCity is set to launch a new luxury option for commuters, students and leisure travellers between Palmerston North and Wellington.
The new GOLD Ultra bus offers a range of premium features for maximum comfort and will be exclusively available on this route from December 14.
Each of the 20 seats on board the Scania K400 low-emission vehicle provides the ultimate in comfort, with fully reclining luxury leather seats, adjustable headrests and leg rests, personal tray tables with cup holders, panoramic windows, individual USB charging ports, and free WiFi.
The bus also features an onboard toilet and a galley area with filtered drinking water, newspapers and magazines, and passengers will receive complimentary bottled water and a Cookie Time cookie when boarding.
InterCity general manager of coaching Sam Peate says passengers are looking for more premium options when travelling.
“Our GOLD seat option has become a firm favourite with customers for its extra legroom and comfort, and GOLD Ultra takes it to the next level,” he says.
“This additional service means we will now have four daily services between Palmerston North and Wellington, offering extra choice and flexibility for our customers.”
WellingtonNZ destination and attraction general manager David Perks says having a new luxury travel option for visitors to come and experience what Wellington has to offer is excellent news.
“Wellington has some special events coming up this summer including Van Gogh Alive at the TSB Arena and WOW Up Close at Te Papa. They will both be very popular and it’s great that our lower North Island cousins in Palmerston North have a laid back, classy way to get here.”
InterCity GOLD Ultra will be available daily from December 14 between Palmerston North and Wellington Airport.
