Western Springs Bowl’s first concert following its $2.5 million transformation is forecast to generate 17,000 visitor nights and contribute $2.6 million to Auckland’s regional economy.
UK pop artist Olivia Dean will perform at the venue on October 17, with her sold-out Spark Arena show moved to Western Springs Bowl following strong ticket demand.
The concert will be the first held at the Bowl since its transformation and the launch of its new name and identity in July.
Dean will also be the first artist to perform on the venue’s new semi-permanent stage, with upgrades due to be completed in early October.
Tātaki Auckland Unlimited director of destination Annie Dundas says the revamped venue provides another option for event promoters as Auckland heads into its summer events season.
“This event alone is forecast to generate 17,000 visitor nights and contribute $2.6 million GDP to the regional economy, supporting our hotels, hospitality and other local businesses.
“A strong calendar of major events gives people more reasons to visit Auckland, stay longer and spend across the region, while adding to the vibrancy that makes Auckland a great place to live and visit.”
The concert will coincide with Auckland FC’s season opener at Go Media Stadium earlier the same day.
Tātaki Auckland Unlimited director Auckland Stadiums James Parkinson says the concert demonstrates the role Western Springs Bowl can play within Auckland’s stadium network.
“After hosting a successful Auckland Rugby NPC match on Saturday, our team are now hard at work preparing the venue to be ready for the summer concert season.”
The Western Springs Bowl upgrade includes semi-permanent concert staging and two new hospitality spaces.
Foo Fighters are scheduled to perform at the venue in January 2027.
