Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow has secured two finalist spots in the 2026 New Zealand Event Association Awards.
The biennial event has been shortlisted in the Major or Mega Event of the Year category, as well as Best Community or Not-for-Profit Event of the Year.
Event manager Andrena Davis says the recognition reflected the efforts of the many people involved in delivering the long-running event.
“Wanaka is justifiably proud of this event and making the finals of these awards is for everyone in this very supportive community,” she says.
“A lot of people put a lot of effort into every airshow and it’s thanks to them that we have been recognised.”
Andrena says it was a testament to the event’s enduring appeal that, after 38 years, the airshow continued to attract sell-out crowds and visitors from around New Zealand and overseas.
The next Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow will be held at Easter 2028 and will mark the event’s 40th anniversary.
Winners of the 2026 New Zealand Event Association Awards will be announced at a gala dinner in Auckland in August.
