Great Journeys New Zealand has launched a winter school holiday campaign offering $25 Scenic Class child fares on its Northern Explorer and TranzAlpine rail journeys.
The KIDS25 promotion applies to travel between July 4 and July 19, aligning with the July school holiday period.
The offer is available on the Northern Explorer and TranzAlpine services when travelling with at least one full-price adult fare.
Great Journeys says the campaign is designed to encourage families and grandparents to travel together during winter without the stress of long-distance driving.
The company says the journeys offer travellers an opportunity to experience New Zealand’s winter landscapes, from the volcanic scenery of the central North Island to the Southern Alps.
Winter travel focus
The promotion applies to Scenic Class fares only and excludes Scenic Plus services.
Customers booking TranzAlpine journeys can apply the promo code KIDS25TA, while Northern Explorer bookings use KIDS25NE.
The company says the offer is available for new bookings made between May 22 and July 19, subject to availability and standard fare conditions.
Child fares apply to passengers aged 14 and under.
Hosted rail experience
Great Journeys says the campaign also highlights the benefits of hosted rail travel during winter, including onboard hosts, spacious seating and a more relaxed alternative to winter road travel.
The operator says the journeys are intended to make the travel experience itself part of the school holiday experience rather than simply transport between destinations.
