Cruise Lines International Association has wrapped up its largest-ever CLIA LIVE training programme in Australasia after a series of events across Australia and New Zealand attracted about 800 bookings.
The final seminar was held this week at QT Gold Coast, concluding an eight-city programme delivered across March, April and May.
Events were held in Christchurch, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Sydney and Auckland before the final Gold Coast event this week.
About 40 cruise lines participated in the programme, which CLIA says is the biggest seminar series it has offered in the Australasian market.
CLIA Australasia director of membership and events Marita Nosic says the programme was designed to help travel agents better understand the range of cruise experiences available across different brands.
“This year’s CLIA LIVE sold out very quickly and showed again that Australian and New Zealand travel agents have a real passion for knowledge on cruising,” Marita says.
“These events have become incredibly popular, and they help consultants better understand the distinct character and appeal of each cruise brand, from ultra-luxury and adventure to family-friendly, expedition and river cruising.”
Focus on cruise brand differences
This year’s programme was themed “Find the Perfect Cruise Match: Discover the Personality Behind Every Brand”.
Sessions included updates from participating cruise lines alongside guidance on guest demographics and the types of travellers best suited to different cruise products.
CLIA says the seminars were aimed at both new-to-cruise travel agents and experienced cruise specialists seeking updated product knowledge.
Details of the 2027 CLIA LIVE programme are expected to be announced later this year.
