The Tourism Export Council of New Zealand Trade Event 2026 has opened in Auckland, bringing together more than 400 tourism operators, buyers and industry stakeholders for two days of business-to-business meetings.
Running on April 22-23 at the Viaduct Events Centre, the event is positioned as New Zealand’s leading buyer and seller gathering for the inbound tourism sector.
The council says the annual event gives New Zealand travel designers an opportunity to connect with suppliers, learn about new products and experiences, and develop itineraries for offshore markets.
Allied members are also using the event to launch new offerings to inbound operators, secure forward bookings and assess market conditions.
Tourism Export Council of New Zealand chief executive Lynda Keene says strong attendance reflects the value of face-to-face engagement.
“It’s fantastic to see the TECNZ Trade Event underway with such strong participation from across the sector.
“These face-to-face meetings are critical for building long-term partnerships and ensuring New Zealand remains competitive in a fast-evolving tourism environment.”
Focus on trade connections
Attendees will take part in a programme of pre-scheduled appointments and networking functions aimed at generating new business and strengthening industry relationships.
The programme also includes a YoungTEC education session covering the trade distribution system, international forecasts for 2026 to 2029, and how Tourism New Zealand works with offshore trade partners.
The council says the event remains an important platform for showcasing tourism experiences and supporting New Zealand’s international visitor market.
